Ms. Katie Boligitz, Assistant Principal

Dear Anthony Burns Elementary School Staff, Students, and Families,

My name is Katie Boligitz, and I am proud to serve as the Assistant Principal at Anthony Burns Elementary School.

As a student, I spent part of my elementary years—and all of my middle and high school years—here in Stafford. I’ve been in the field of education for more than 20 years. My career began in Pennsylvania as a special education teacher, where I had the privilege of serving students for a decade before returning to Stafford County.

Since then, I’ve continued my work in special education at both the elementary and middle school levels and have held various leadership roles, including Educational Diagnostician at H.H. Poole Middle School and Student Services Department Chair at North Stafford High School. Most recently, I served as an Assistant Principal in Manassas City Public Schools before returning once again to Stafford County in an administrative capacity.

I hold a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Virginia Tech, a master’s degree in Special Education from Marywood University in Pennsylvania, and completed the Educational Leadership program at the University of Mary Washington.

Stafford truly feels like home. I’m thrilled to continue as a Dragon at Anthony Burns Elementary this year. My connection to this community runs deep—I’ve raised my children here. My daughter graduated from Colonial Forge High School in 2022 and is now studying pharmacy at James Madison University. My son is a rising senior in the STAT engineering program at Colonial Forge and North Stafford High School.

This return is more than a homecoming—it’s a renewed opportunity to pursue my passion for education and service. I look forward to working with our incredible students, staff, and families to make a positive impact throughout the school year.

Warm regards,
Katie Boligitz
